AD Lab is a research group in the Department of Biology at Montclair State University. Our lab takes an interdisciplinary approach, integrating environmental microbiology techniques with molecular biology tools, next-generation sequencing, and computational biology. Our research is driven by the recognition that microbial health is a foundational component of the One Health framework, linking soil, environmental, plant, animal, and human health.

The primary goal of the AD Lab is to understand how soil microbiomes function, interact, and respond to environmental change, with a particular focus on microbial interactions, functional potential, and ecosystem resilience. We investigate the roles of microbial communities in processes such as nutrient cycling, pathogen suppression, and environmental monitoring- including but not limited to- microbial functional dynamics, antibiotic resistance, and the ecological roles of extracellular DNA.
